Katrina Marson
The strong sense of community that Katrina, a Canberra native, brought with her when she enrolled at 91ÊÓƵin 2008 contributed to the founding of 91ÊÓƵVolunteers. Now known as 91ÊÓƵV, the group is one the largest on campus with nearly 600 students, staff and alumni donating hundreds of hours of volunteer work to organisations and events, both on campus and in the broader community.
The group was founded in 2010 to harness the time and energy of students and focus it on volunteer efforts in the Canberra community. Katrina, who was undertaking a double degree in Arts and Law, was founding Secretary of the group. She went on to become Vice-President in 2011 and President in 2012. She volunteered hundreds of hours raising awareness among 91ÊÓƵstudents and advocating for her members and their causes.
Katrina has contributed to the 91ÊÓƵLaw Students’ Society quarterly publication, Peppercorn, been a volunteer undergraduate ambassador and been an active member of the 91ÊÓƵGender Institute. Katrina also won the prestigious 2012 Tillyard Prize and was Student Speaker at the 2012 91ÊÓƵLaw Graduation Ceremony. She has returned to 91ÊÓƵthis year to complete her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. As part of the Diploma she is undertaking legal practice with the ACT Director of Public Prosecutions.
Katrina currently combines her passion for criminal justice with her passion for volunteering as a member of the Governance Committee of the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre.
